The storysincere

According to this receipt, we bought two coffees. That is the entire official record of the afternoon.

It does not mention that the rain stopped just as we arrived. Or that we took the long way home and got pleasantly lost. It has nothing to say about the conversation that began with something silly and somehow lasted until the chairs were being stacked.

I put it in my pocket without thinking. Later, I found it in the wash, soft at the edges but still readable. I let it dry on the windowsill.

Most of the numbers have disappeared now. The paper is doing its best to forget a transaction. I am doing my best to remember a day.

A fictional story, written for this sample exhibit.

An ordinary thing, given extraordinary attention.

The Museum of Ordinary Things

Nothing ordinary
about what we keep.

A ticket. A chipped cup. A watch that no longer works. Some objects matter for reasons no label can quite explain. This is a place to try.

This early exhibit explores how a photograph and a few words can give an everyday thing extraordinary attention.
